Probably a long shot, but... I dropped the archery side of my hunting activities when I went back into the military after the 9/11 attacks and I got an invitation from the government to come back and play.

I pulled my carefully stored away Oneida Black Eagle out now that I'm retired and remembered how much fun even just shooting for relaxation in the back yard was. Everything seems to be functioning fine once I tensioned all the cables and the bow string up again, including the Trap Door rest. The technology is old, but my 70 year old abused shoulders like the soft draw compared with today's compounds. It's still fast enough for my uses.

Sooner or later I'll get around to checking the tuning, and with new arrows on the way I am probably going to need to do some arrow rest adjustments. I am usually a notorious pack rat when it comes to saving the instructions that come with any of my gear, but I can't find the instructions for the Trap Door rest.

Does anyone out there have a set of instructions they can can scan and send me? Or remember how adjustments are made?

This is the version with three hex head screws on the one side of the rest, and no other screws or visible means of adjusting it. I suppose I could take all three screws out and then hold my breath (and a hand over the side plate to capture any flying springs) when I take the plate off and see if the internal workings tell me which screws to use.

I know a lot of people did not like them, and there's a business reason they're no longer on the market, but I used that rest for years hunting elk and moose (and the assorted deer) around here, and for me the one I own was stone cold reliable. So easy to tune that it only took a few arrows, as best I remember, compared to my former Gold Key prong rest.

Thanks for any help - a long morning of web searching came up with nothing. Too late to get sufficiently in practice for bowhunting this year, but hopefully next year.

    Good to see you here.

I don’t have the first clue about the rest you’re referring to, but I found an older thread on another hunting forum about it.

They ended up contacting Black Gold customer service. They appear to still be in business. The company promptly sent them instructions for that rest.

    Here’s a link to Black Gold’s website:

    Hope this helps a little.

I think it's going to help a lot! During my web searching this AM, one thread I looked at said that they had gone out of business, sold their name, products, etc to somebody else.

Thank you for taking the time to find that for me!

    No problem at all.

    Good luck with it!
