It's a synthetic so it really does not have a shelf life IMO.

Any scrape I start will have an overhanging limb on it and the day I put any commercial lure in it would be the best day to start using the forhead gland. I will be trying to get scrapes started soon whenever I make a trip to Ohio.

I just put out my mock scrape yesterday. I browsed the forums old and new to get some advice. I think I may have made my mock scrape a bit too small. I forgot to bring latex gloves with me. I may have some of my scent there. However, since April I've been in and out of there every 2-3 weeks. The longest I'll be there is an average of 10 minutes. When I cleared out shooting lanes in June and July, I spent a good 2-3 hours and sweated. I'm hoping the deer are use to my scent and don't associate it with danger right now. Hopefully I didn't leave enough scent to make them hesitant. My mock scrape I used a stick on the ground, I made a 1 1/2 ft by 1 1/2 ft mock scrape directly below the dripper. I put some on the leaves and some on the mock scrape. We've got about two group of 3 bucks that roam the area. I'm hoping to attract the 11 point my brother in law got on camera, or even attract a new buck in. I've got til September 12th so I'm hoping this will aid in early season. Also, curious to see how it makes the pre-rut and rut for me. Definitely helpful to read through the forum and see what people have said. I'll post pictures of my mock scrapes when I pull my card in a week or two.

I think you will be fine as far as scent goes. I am in and out of my hunting spot ever 10 days or so. If you ever get in the woods and you don't have gloves, walk away from your hunting area and find some loose leaves and soil. Gather a good amount in your hands and rub it vigorously all over your hands. It gives them that earthy/dirt smell. I do this sometimes when I don't have gloves. The I refill my scent drippers. :tu:

I will now be incorporating corn into my mock scrapes, LOL Sam. That's a awesome deer, never get tired of looking at photos of him.
