So I had heard some tips of a couple of decent bucks running around the one property I hunt, and they had apparently been sighted in one of the fields on a somewhat frequent basis. Very close to these sightings, I had bumped a large buck back during turkey season, and seen several tracks on a frequently used trail close to what I believed to be his core bedding area (where I bumped him). I wanted to see if we could setup a camera and mock scrape on the edge of this bedding area in a spot I wouldn't impact too much when pulling the memory card.

Princess (Dan aka Jaws ;)) and I made this setup last weekend. I think this goes to show that a setup like this WILL work. I don't have a shooter on this yet, but I'm willing to bet we will get one over the next couple of weeks. I plan to freshen it up with more buck urine in the next couple of days, to see if we can use it to take inventory of what is in the area through season. After this weekend, I'll plan to check the card maybe once before November, to make sure we aren't pressuring this area too much.

We got a TON of pics from that basket 5, didn't include them all but I've got probably 25+, he is in there every day. Does are in there multiple times a day as well checking it out. I'm anxious to know what shows up over the next couple of weeks.

Great idea. Any special brand of scent you're using?

Heh, good eye. That's actually my "toy". He was holding it for me while I doctored up the scrape. ;)

We have a small problem with yotes in this area, and if I'm out and about I've always got it with me. I can't wait to get in there this winter with a caller and try to setup on a few. Just after we setup the camera, in this same spot, we got the following pics..........

We are also having a bit of a problem around here with them, im hoping to purchase a predator rifle this winter and take a couple out of the population, i would love to get a AR type gun but the money is not here for that for atleast a couple years.

Awesome Matt, ive put mock scrapes in 3 different areas already, 2 with cams, and im checking one of them tommorow.

I seem to get alot of 1.5 year old buck traffic at first too, then the big boys come around in late October.

Coyotes visit them alot as well...

When you get serious about picking up a predator gun, ping me. I've got a LOT of experience with that stuff, and can help you pick up some quality stuff for a great price.

Very cool, Matt. I put in my first mock scrape, last weekend. Was a last minute decision (as I was leaving), so my cam isn't on it yet. Your pics gives me hope, though :D

I just checked 2 of my mock scrapes out, lots of doe activity on them with 3 different smaller bucks. Nothing really to get excited about. I moved my camera's to a different location and trying this again hoping to get a big boy on camera.

Same here Steve, lots of does w/ fawns, button bucks, and some HUGE mature does, but nothing with a rack yet...

Itll be soon though, especially if the mature does keep frequenting it...
