I wanted to see if anyone out there puts in any mock scraps in mid to late august? I am new to bow hunting. I have little to no experience with scents and drippers etc. My thoughts were to make a few scraps leading from the bedding area into the hollow I hunt. Ending with a mock scrap with a Tink's scent dripper within bow range from my stand and putting a trail camera on it. Anyone got any info on when I should put them in, what scents to use in the preseason, success stories, etc.

I like to wait until late September or early October but that's just me.

I like too start my mock scrapes in mid August and only use buck preorbital scent on a licking branch. I sometimes urinate in it but most times I let the bucks do it for me.I put my mock scrapes close too bedding cover edges too see what mature bucks made it if I don't yet know.

Do you get as much activity at the scrapes when you take a leakin them. I took a whiz out of my stand a couple years back because i forgot a bottle and there was no holding it and a little spike walked right up and acted like it was a normal smell and rooted around in it and walked off. If it was a big buck ive wondered if i would have gotten the same reaction but who knows.

Honestly I get more from urinating in them than I do using most commercial scents.Every buck has his own personality just like people so some work them and some just work the licking branch if I only use preorbital scent like in some these videos and pics then they use the branch. I will try post some videos now of velvet scrape pictures and videos I have on hand.Pictures and videos don't lie and these are mature high pressured public land bucks other than a few spikes at one scrape.
