Don! Since you are a non-practicing Bowhunting.com member I demand you give us all an update on your season as soon as possible. I know the guns are blaring in MO right now and I haven't heard reports of any bucks down with the archery equipment. I want some answers! :mad1: :D
Well you see......I...uhhhhh.....well....there was this.......meteor! YEAH!! A Meteor! And it landed right on....the uh.....hillside I was going to be hunting on.....then there was this......Oh hell, who am I kidding? I go home every night wimpering with my tail tucked between my legs. I am seeing a LOT of deer, and I've seen more bucks this year than any other. I'm putting myself in good positions. I've sat in funnels downwind of doe bedding areas, I'm hunting thickets, doe hangouts, travel corridors......And in a way, it's paying off. I hunted 1 farm for 8 straight days, and passed one the first evening I kind of wish I had back. He was a non typical 9 point, but only about 80-90 inches. I'm second guessing that one a little, but he really wasn't what I was looking for. In all, I saw 25 different bucks that week, but I would bet 15 of them were spikes. I did see a 120 class, and a 140 class chasing does and even had them in range. But they're hard to get stopped when they're thinking about....well....you know. I've passed MANY does, and killed one. I also killed my first yote this year, which was pretty cool. Our firearms season opened here on the 15th, and with my family being sick, me being sick, and some other personal "stuff" going on, I haven't even been in the woods in about a week. But I plan on hunting Thanksgiving morning, and some that weekend as well. Oh wait, I did hunt this past Saturday, but it was worthless. I sat ALL day and saw 2 little ole does around 11 in the morning. My bad.... I ain't gonna lie, I'm beginning to get pretty discouraged. I REFUSE to think of myself as the Flock of Seagulls just yet though.....LOL Perfection demands time and besides.............It wouldn't be any fun if I couldn't add a little drama too it, now would it?
Well, there you have it! Your season sounds a lot like mine, the only difference being I had my chance and blew it. Now its the end of November and my buck tags stare at me from the clip on my wallet every day, mocking my ineptness and inability to close the deal on an Illinois buck. I feel your pain my friend. I will make you a deal. You shoot a buck that gross scores more than 100 inches before the season is out, and I will send you a brand spaking new Bowhunting.com hooded sweatshirt, t-shirt, and fleece beanie. The only deal is that if you shoot said buck, you have to do a full write-up that we can publish on the website detailing your entire season. Deal, or No Deal?
You have yourself a deal my friend. I'm really gonna have to work for it now.....once firearm season hits around here.......they all simply, vanish. But I don't have it in me to give up, so......here we go. And I'll make YOU a deal. If you kill one that grosses over 100 inches before your season is up, I'll buy you a beer at the ATA this year. What say ye?
I think you should buy Justin a beer regardless if he shoots one or not! Actually you should just show up with a keg for his hotel room!
Hey, I got a buck tag left too. What will you guys give me? I am not sitting on the couch the rest of the season either. That beer sounds pretty good. There are still bucks out there guys. I killed my best one on January 2nd, 2000. Don't give up.
John, you and I still need to get a beer big guy......And hey, does your offer this year still stand for next year?
