Hey guys, this year I want to make a dedicated effort in posting up the various things that I will be doing for foodplots and habitat. I have already started a few things and need to get better at taking pictures! Feel free to use this thread in any way you see fit - ask questions, post comments and suggestions, good humor is always welcome. Lets build a knowledge base and have some deeper discussion about foodplots and habitat improvements. Here is my living to-do list of things I would like to get done this year: No-till corn planting into sod experiment. Spring planting soybeans in fall brassica plots to distract deer away from corn Expand corn acres Maintain last years clover planting Develop a no-till rotation Increase mineral sites Over seed brassicas into yellowing corn plots Experiment will rolling brassica seed in Experiment with spraying brassica plots using clethodim Start cedar rubbing posts on edges of foodplots I'm sure the list will grow as the season progresses, but I would like to use this thread to document what I am doing and lessons learned for future years! If I have enough time, I may also film some of the things that I am doing and put together short 5 min videos. Enjoy!
I went twice, and then I got so busy with being single and helping farm and our foodplots that I haven't had time to do any more than that. How's the hand?! Looking forward to following this!
Ha Ha Ha To be honest, I learned how to swing dance about 4 weeks ago and ever since I have had dates non stop! If you want a girl friend, learn how to swing dance my friends!
Not sure on that technical information. We get our corn seed free from PF every year, its the let over seed from the previous year's Ag planting. I can tell you its usually dekalb
Starting to get jacked up, I built a disc last night and mixed up some mineral to put out with our salt blocks! Using the salt blocks just to start the mineral locations. Seems the deer find the salt block faster than just loose mineral on the ground.
Got out this weekend to do a lot of planting. I decided that the no til corn into sod experiment wasn't going to work. Instead, I am going to spray it all summer and do a no till brassica planting experiment in that space. Pictures to follow!
Good Choice, planting a grass, (corn is a grass) into a grass, rarely works! However, we have had great success with killing sod and notilling Soybeans in!
There was just so much grass matter that I didnt think our corn planter was going to be able to cut that matter and get the seed where it needs to be. Sorry for the lack of pictures, I hope to get those uploaded tonight!
The next weekend I didn't done food plot checking and mineral/salt blocks! Sent from my SM-G930V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
