Been quite a while since I updated this... Have done a few things over the last few weeks that should help me get a shot at a deer. Planted about a half acre of winter rye this last week... We have had steady rain since - Just need the sun now. Here is my current hit list, with Cactus Jack way ahead of the pack. Cactus Jack - Stickers all over his base Cruising with a guy I call 8 ball Tines 5x5 Crazy Eights
I cant wait to see him without the velvet. Ready... I'm never ready! Still have a lot left to do before the season starts. Make a few adjustments to the bow yet, need to wash/spray all of my gear, check my cams one last time, and maybe get one more stand in.
I haven't updated this since the season started... Been hunting hard and have had some great early season action. On 9/21 I missed a nice 8pt at 13 yards... Me being a beginner to the sport, it was one giant learning experience for me. 5 minutes before last shooting light... Drew back and could barely see a pin. Having never shot my bow in low light conditions I was not expecting this - I aimed down the arrow and it went over his back... Thank god. I will not be doing something like that again, aqnd have since upgraded from a $30 Tru Glo to a 3 pin Trophy Ridge sight which has been a HUGE improvement. I'm only in my 2nd year as a bowhunter and have passed numerous small bucks this year... Going to hold out as long as possible for at least an 8. Some new trail cam pictures: I dream about this buck... http://forums.bowhunting.com/trail-cameras/65768-9-14-pull-little-everything.html http://forums.bowhunting.com/trail-cameras/64690-8-16-pull-new-guys-showing-up.html I will be back out this evening!
