I am looking for some advice on how to acquire more land to hunt. Be it private or public, doesn't matter to me. I have been reluctant to ask out of pride. Dumb, I know. However, the land I have hunted for years has suddenly become popular for neighbors and it is obvious the deer are being pressured too heavily. So, how does one acquire new lands? Obviously I can check the dnr website for wma properties but how do you tell if it is any good? Most public lands I have hunted are also overcrowded so I am not super excited about that. Truth be told, I am frustrated and need some advice from some folks who have been here before.

    Thanks

    GA and ?
I too have problem just knocking on doors can't take the rejection..lol..might not work up that way but here in GA we have a publication called the "farmers market bulletin",,I place an ad in there starting in June looking for land [its free].... last year I had 10 farmers and landowners call me offering to lease me some land..

I would look and see if there are any local publication like that up your way...

Depends where you live in the state, up north there is plenty of county/state land. Central and southern have wma's that are actually pretty good.

I've been running into the same thing with more people showing up on the land that I hunt. My theory is DO NOT give up on your spots or move in Deeper. If you give up and move they basically got what they wanted or if you move in deeper you might get away from the pressured travel areas that the deer are now avoiding. I'm still a younger guy so i'm moving in deeper this coming fall.
