I just never have been a big Jake Shields fan, and I've watched him for several years. He epitomizes the "lay and pray" mentatlity to me. Is he a world-class grappler? Undoubetdly. But other than controlling his opponent, he looks to me as if he has no clue how to finish someone.

Most the orange belts at our school can throw a more forceful strike. I'd just like to see him learn how to throw an elbow.... or a HARD kick, or ... something.

Kampmann has nobody to blame but himself: he's got the tools, but for some reason wouldn't pull the trigger at the start of round three and got suckered into playing Shields's game. It would have been VERY easy to keep the fight standing at that point, and he had a largely lifeless punching bag in front of him at his disposal had he chosen to do so.

No doubt Greg, I agree 100%. Shields is going to have to work on his standup, now that he is in the UFC. To me he has walked into a room of a lot better opponets. Kampmann, could have at any time, let his hands go, and probably have knocked Shields out. Both will (and probably should) take this fight as a learning experience, and improve !

But hey, I'm still waiting for my hero the Iceman to come after Tito one more time :D

I Think that in all reality Bock had no business with that belt in the first place. He has learned quite a bit, but in actuality is still fairly Naieve in the whole mixed martial arts scene. He was far to relient on his size and power, and hes technique was very lacking. I thought that he showed great improvement in the carwin fight, but was right back to his old habitry in this fight, On balance single legs attempts, Shooting a offensive fighter, etc etc. He really just isnt quite there. That and he allowed cain to dictate the pace of the fight. He was hit by punches that by fighting standards, cain shoulda been reamed by his corner for throwing. And yet the Almight lesnar had No answers.
I dont See Mir beating Cain if Cain can keep with a game plan, but mir is SO very good at deconstructing those, i do however think that Shane Carwin should probably have a shot, and that would be a hell of a fight to watch.
