I wear women's jeans? That's news to me. Soccer is one of the most physical sports in the world. I'm not talking physical as in trying to show the opponent who can hit harder, but it takes a lot to run nonstop for 90 minutes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A zillion years ago, I played soccer for one summer during high school. I loved it. But I played it like I played floor hockey. After just a week or so, if I went for the ball, all the other girls just stepped aside. I WOULD get the ball. Even if I left a bunch of bodies laying around. heh. I would immediately have to pass the ball off to a teammate because I had zero finesse at moving the ball around. So, it was fun. For me. On the other hand, I cannot watch it on tv. But then, I don't watch much of any sports. Lots of people watch baseball on tv and that is really boring.
We all hear how physical it is yet the floppers are worse then the NBA, we hear how tough the players are yet we do not see a player pick up his teeth hike a hockey player, hard hits check the NFL. Soccer has to triple their league wide attendance to come close to matching baseball. The only people that like watching soccer players is soccer players.
I am in my 50's, live in MN, lean politically conservative and love soccer. Don't see what it has to do with bowhunting though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No particular reason, I guess. Just unexpected in a network titled "bowhunting forum". Guess if you want to connect with other bowhunters and chat about soccer, what the heck...go for it. Kind of like hanging out in a bar after an archery tournament with other shooters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Aha! It wasn't presented that way in Tapatalk mobile app, but now I see it in the topic string at the top of each page. I'll have to pay closer attention when I see a topic on the Timeline. Thanks for your tolerance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My Grandfather fought in WW2 to insure 2 things 1 I would never have to use the metric system and 2 that I would never have to watch soccer on my TV. In the Midwest the only kids that play soccer are kids who do not make the baseball team and kids with parents afraid to let their kids play football. I actually do not have a problem with that until their insecure soft parents try to preach what a great game soccer is.
You realize you sound hugely ignorant right? I'm going to assume it's just to ruffle some feathers, I'm hoping so at least. I'm 33 and have played or participated in the sport since I was 4. The last thing anyone that knows me would call me a hipster. I was actually a top athlete where I went to school. I didn't want to play baseball because it was boring. I left a starting varsity basketball spot because it was getting in the way with indoor soccer. Soccer is a very pyshical sport. I've seen guys break their backs, ankles, legs, hell I've broken a kids foot and nose (different players). If you are a soft parent, this sport definitely isn't for you. That's awesome that MN is getting a team. I wish Indy would. We have a NASL team. In their first year every game was sold out and season ticket sales were about 6x higher than what their target was. I went to a few games and it was mostly attended by adults around 40-60... any clue why... cause their kids grew up playing so they grew up in the sport too... The sport isn't for everyone. But like it or not, it's big and spreading like wildfire.
If you judge by tv ratings soccer is number 2 already. 25 million watched the portugul draw which was more than the nba finals and world series that year.
I know you're trying to make a joke, but it's in pretty poor taste. As for soccer, if you don't like it, then ignore it. You say you hate when others try to tell you how great a sport it is, then go on and tell others how awful it is. Just ignore it and move on. Personally, I hated the sport for the first 18 years of my life. Then when I went to college a buddy dragged me to a soccer game at my school and I fell in love with it. It didn't hurt that I went to The University of Akron, and they won the National Championship the following year. Just like any other sport, if you don't take the time to learn the strategy and tactics it will appear boring. However, if you do take the time it's a fascinating sport. So being from Nebraska, the midwest.....a 4 year letter winner in Basketball, Soccer, and Football in high school, a full time employee on a 3000 acre ranch with 300 head a cattle, an all american in college for playing soccer, and turned professional, does that determine me a hipster? I guess the question is.....what qualifies a human as a hipster. If its camo, wranglers, cowboy boots and a pickup, I guess I am in the right category.
That's not why WW 2 was fought, they more you defend this the worse you make yourself look. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I personally just can't get into soccer, but it's here to stay. Sporting Kansas City it the poster child proving it will work if done properly. The MLS is not even close to the same league as the NFL or MLB, but it will pass the NBA in short order. Those two leagues are trending in opposite directions. A couple more generations of kids playing soccer and those kids will be the demographic soccer needs to step up into the big time and be considered on the same level as MLB. I don't think it will ever catch the NFL in popularity, but I can see it being right there at #2 or #3.
