So knowing that Eaton started mouthing to him as soon as he was out of the box, yet did not get any punishment, tells me that MLB is also targeting the Royals for the spirit they play with. Eaton never even made it to first base and he started towards Ventura, an umpire had to restrain him, yet he gets nothing. Not even thrown from the game. I just don't get it. I'm fine with the Ventura's suspension since there have multiple incidents, but if you actually look at what he did, it's really nothing more than a guy that's too cocky. I can't figure out why Herrera got another suspension, I didn't see him in anything specifically. Samardzjia should have gotten just as much, if not more than Ventura because he was clearly the antagonist once the benches cleared.
Waino is done for the year, and probably early part of next. I'm going into my room to cry until October. A trade for Hamels is possible, but the Phillies want a ton in return, and I don't know how I feel about dealing our top 4 prospects for him. Maybe they tread water with Marco Gonzalez and make a move at the deadline. They lost Waino in '11 and still won the whole thing, but Chris Carpenter isn't walking through those doors this year.
Yes, it could have happened fielding a bunt, but it's one extra opportunity for a pitcher to get hurt. I definitely disagree that pitchers batting is great. I don't watch baseball to see a nearly automatic out every 8 batters. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
It's great for strategy. For when the pitcher is coming up in a 2-1 game in the 8th inning, and the pitcher is dealing, do they take him out? Leave him in? Etc. there is no strategy in the American League.
Kinda funny. I think what a lot of people don't realize is that the 3 teams the Royals have had issues with just happened to be the White Sox, A's and the Angles. Royals celebrated making the playoffs for the first time in 29 years on the White Sox field = Sour Grapes by the White Sox Royals came back in amazing fashion in the Wild Card game to defeat the A's = Butt hurt from being knocked out of the playoffs Royals swept the Angles in the ALDS = Angles were embarrassed by the lowly Royals We'll see how the rest of the season plays out, but there's no doubt teams don't like the Royals being relevant.
I actually came here to post the same thing. Bauer is a quirky dude, but that was hilarious. Oh, and even after Waino's injury, I still love pitchers batting. I hate the DH, even though it won't be long before the union votes it in for the NL.
The strategy, the way it's always been done....I'm a sucker for it. I like watching the game how it is now with low offensive outputs. It makes every decision a manager makes that much more critical.
There is something to be said for a pitcher batting, makes them more accountable for throwing at the other team. At least in the NL, if they throw at someone, they also have to step in the box to get a dose of their own medicine of the other team so chooses.
I just think it takes away from one of the #1 hurdles from a strategic standpoint. Anyone can trot out a lineup with a DH, and not have to worry about a pitchers spot coming up in a lineup, when to pull a starter, or to burn a reliever for 1 out in the 6th just to pinch hit for him in the bottom half of the inning. Over the course of 162, those little things decided by the manager will win and lose you some games.
Cardinals are on a roll without even having a 5th starter right now. Hope Gonzalez gets healthy and stabilizes the spot Waino left behind. And how bout them Astros? I thought they would be better, but not this good. I'm pulling for them, and Luhnhow came from the Cards front office and was the main reason they have had such an influx of young talent over the years, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
