Anyone doing this? I know a few people that are doing it and they love it. They are using a bean drill and mixing corn in with the beans when they plant. We are thinking about doing it as well this year on two fields totaling about 13-14 acres.

I have done this. I used way too much corn. I have heard that it also prevents the corn from putting on good ears. I would suggest beans inside of a corn screen or do wide strips of each.

    Good luck!

I did the same... got very poor ear developement but I also over seeded the corn. I was planning on doing a block O windscreen with corn this year and beans in the middle but Im going to plant clover this weekend instead. Im a little behind the 8 ball this year with work but the weather has been ideal here to still seed clover.

    Good luck bud

I seen on a different web site, that when this is done you don't get the same yield as you do when plant them seperate.

Planting it too thick with corn could easily be done, especially when using a bean drill. The guys I know doing it are mixing it 90/10 or 95/5 beans/corn.

If we don't do it this way, we'll plant it seperate half and half in 2 sections in each of the two fields.

SCN is the reason farmers don't plant soybeans in the same field year after year. You can transport it from field to field via equipment too. There's a reason why they rotate those crops. ;)

How's that saying go? Well no ****. :p

We had beans in one of the 7 acre fields last year and half of that field will be beans again. The other 7 acre field has had nothing in it for a billion years. Like seriously, a billion. :D

Just remember that corn is genetically modified to be suppressed in narrow rows nowadays. Meaning that corn that gets too much Sun will put out maybe 8 ears, but cannot handle the demand, therefore develops little or no kernels.

    Just my experience....

Dan, my college roommate does this at his place at a 90-10 ratio and loves it. Phenominal for late season.
