I'm in Bates county MO. I agree with the comment about preferring season opener in October, the deer are in a lot better shape too by then.
grew up in grundy county, now im in Harrison county, right on the iowa line. absolutely love it up here.
Anyone had any luck? I stuck a doe a week ago sunday. Its been too hot! Hoping this cold front gets them moving a bit more during daylight. We are starting to see some younger bucks move in, though.
I killed a 13 a few weeks ago and pass does almost every time out. Hated too kill out this early so I bought a bonus doe so I could at least go out. Hope to take my son when he is home from college this fri.
Congrats! At least you still have rifle season and your antlerless tag for after rifle season! I stared at a 9 for almost two hours about a week ago. Couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to take him or not. Let him go and hoping for another I want to walk out.
Pleasant Hill, MO here. Cass county is mainly where I hunt. I've seen some smaller bucks Sunday and Monday morning moving around at daylight. Hoping some cool weather hits us here
Man they were moving tonight, seen one small buck chasing a doe and a nice buck making a scrape on a field edge. Deer in every field here tonight.
Well, I went out this morning immediately after work. Does and turkeys were all over the place. Scrapes are fresh. New rubs. Looking better and better! We moved a stand this morning. Ill be in an existing set in the morning and tomorrow evening a blind where we are getting daylight pictures of a decent 9 and quite a few does.
With some standing corn left between me and the hwy heard a few horn blows as deer cross the road sure kept me on my toes and I seen does and 2 bucks working the edges it was non stop action tonight.
Lots of buck activity here in Jackson County. Saw out number 1 chasing a doe and grunting like crazy but never came in for a shot and 2 2.5 year olds came in and one old deer that would maybe only score 120. Lots of activity hopefully morning will be good
