Missouri Rut?

    Just wondering how the rut is going for everyone else in northern Missouri

    I hunt just across the state line in northeast Kansas.. I noticed a lot of bucks moving this last week and responding to grunts/bleats. I harvested my buck about a week ago now. I think the primary rut will be on for another few days before lockdown begins.

    A buddy of mine hunted opening day off gun season in Mercer County. He said Saturday was the best day he's seen in the woods.
    Him, his daughter, and a friend all took mature bucks from mid 130's to mid 160's.

    I was in central Missouri. Shot a nice basketracked 8 pointer with my rifle at 7:00 am. No movement other than that Saturday. Sunday I didn't go out due to stomach flu. Not a giant buck, but considering how ill I was, it was worthy. Tallish rack that was out to ear width.

    Deer look like they've been in lockdown. Only way we saw deer was to do a drive. They were in some of the thickest brush around. Otherwise, they were not moving one bit.
