Neighbor has a video from friday night that is terrible quality so I wont include here, but we think we have a lion roaming around. We are in city limits and in kind of an urban setting, but there is lots of property behind us undeveloped. I had an old shoulder from a couple years ago that is now bait. Hopefully I'll get quality video to share. Last night I left my shop roll up door open and something went in there and took an old turkey fan out into the yard and destroyed it. I dont know what would do that or why, but it seems too coincidental. Anyway, I hope to catch it on camera tonight. We normally have tons of rabbits. Haven't seen one in weeks. Not one. Uh probably 3 or 4 hours. I'm near Kansas city, 40 mins SE anyway. I saw one last year while turkey hunting on public land here. Was wild! I just dont want one in my back yard to say the least. If I get a decent video that proves it is here I'll call MDC to see what can be done. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
If not its back to shoot, shovel, shut up. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Lol, MDC won't do squat, they reintroduced them here willingly years ago. I saw my first one in 1985 as a 10 year old. We were hauling firewood out of an old secluded farm, me, my mom, an aunt and a cousin. It crossed the old lane way about 80' in front of us in the truck. It lept from beside the road a ways, landed in the middle of the road and lept again and cleared a five wire barbed wire fence on the other side. I can still replay that memory like a movie. There was snow on the ground and when we told my dad about it we all went back to see if we could find tracks and find them we did, they were the size of a tea saucer plate and clear as day. No one had a camera, obviously no cell phones and we didn't have the polaroid with us. We've seen them off and on in the years since around here. I'm about 75 miles south of KC.
I hear ya, Covey. I guess the proximity to all our houses made me think maybe MDC would at least relocate the thing, but I guess that is a pretty steep ask. Nothing on my camera last night and I haven't talked to the neighbor yet. Those things have such a huge range, so I'm not surprised. That piece of meat is gonna start stinking real good later today...HA! I have to admit, I kind of just want to see it for myself even though I don't like it being around.
Growing up in Hermann, MO, my dad told our local conservation agent, our cousin, that he had spotted a sow bear with cubs out near our farm. The agent just flat out refused to believe my dad and thought he was just yanking his chain. This is long before trail cameras, maybe 1987-88, so my dad just told the agent "If they don't exist in Missouri than I guess I can I shoot one", this prompted the agent to finally go walk the woods a little. He met us back over at Grandma's where he enjoyed eating some fresh crow.
