So I'm debating between getting the mission blaze or ballistic. Out of the bows I shot these are the two I liked the best. I just wanted to get your guys opinions on if it's worth the extra $100 for the 10 mph more that you get with the blaze?
Ballistic. If you like a longer ATA then the Blaze but I personally liked the ballistic more. The 10 FPS aren't worth $100 IMO
Yeah I was thinking that. But then I got to thinkin that I didn't like the grip on the ballistic at all, I know everyone says that, so I would need to change it and that's around 40 right there. And I actually did like the grip on the blaze. I'm torn between the too. I think I will just shoot them again and see if something just "clicks" with one of them
I've shot them both and if I were in your shoes I'd go with the Blaze. I personally like a longer ATA bow. I don't know how long your draw length is but, with me at 29" a longer ATA bow is a little more comfortable to shoot. Go by what you feel when you shoot the bows side by side.
I'm 28in draw. And I think I am going with the blaze. I was curious why the longer ATA felt a little more "shootable"? Might sound like a stupid question but I don't know
They are both nice bows - 10fps is minimal - I would get whatever one you like better.... The Ballistic felt better balanced in my hand - but that's just how it feels for me... The Blaze seemed to feel a little more top heavy.... But can't go wrong with either!
Factor in your draw length, what poundage you're going to shoot, the environment you'll hunt in, and what arrows you're going to shoot. I have my ballistic and its set at 28in and I'm shooting 405 grain arrows and it slings em at 290. Which is more than enough to kill a deer when you calculate kinetic energy. If you're going to shoot arrows that are heavier than 10 gpi then I would get the blaze to make up for the weight of the arrow, I'm switching to the new Easton Injexion FMJ that comes out this year and I'm going to take my draw length up to 29 because of it, which adds an extra 10 fps but my arrows will be heavier so it will kinda even out. If you're more of a blind hunter, go with the ballistic, shorter ATA so its easier to shoot out if a blind with it. If you're more of a stand hunter and you have a long draw length, the blaze would be a good one because it will be more stable due to the longer ATA. Alot to take into consideration here but hope this helps!
I have a 28in draw length and I usually shoot between 65 and 70 pounds. Right now my bow is set at 67 pounds. The arrows I shoot are carbon express mayhem hunter 350's And I rarely hunt out of a ground blind unless it's just to cold to be in a tree.
I have the ballistic and 380g arrow w/ 29.5"draw and i crono at 307. with a 409g arrow i shot 300fps flat.
I had the same dilemma, so I put it in a what do I get for an extra $100? Blaze has which the Ballistic does not: harmonic stabilizer light (~$25), walnut grips (which I will trim to fit and the Ballistics rubberish cannot), call it $45, and 10 fps. On the other hand, the ballistic is lighter by about 2 oz. So, the question for me becomes which feels better; I can't truly tell because the grips on the Ballistic suck so bad, but both were good shooters. Will carrying an extra 2 oz bother me? No. Is the 10 fps worth $30? By this logic I find myself looking down to the next cheaper bow and am at $299 for a 302 fps bow then start all over. What the hell. I figure I will have the bow for years and yes, might as well get the one I know I can Dremel the handle to comfort and get a bow doing 340 ibo. It is on lawaway...now I have to wait. Not very good at waiting.
Like someone else said the blaze isn't worth the extra $100. I had a ballistic and loved it. Gonna buy another for giggles just to have it for 3d shoots. Awesome bow for the price point.
I have shot both bows, I like the Ballistic more then the Blaze But it All really about the feel of the bows.
I ended up going with the ballistic. All I have left to do is get a different grip for it. I just don't know what to get or what fits on it. And I don't want to break the bank for a grip like the death grip
i shot both before deciding on the blaze. the blaze to me just seemed smoother and more dead in the hand. the speed difference was not a concern to me. the grip and the ata sold me on the blaze, whats $100 when its more comfortable in the hand. the blaze is a bit top heavy on first pull but when you get it to the valley it seems to straighten it out.
