its kind of a baller way to go .... how did your uncle die? oh he has fat and had a heart attack vs. he was crushed by 375 atmospheres (5,511 PSI compared to 14 at sea level) while deep sea exploring the Titanic and man, if you're part of these explorer groups going this way compared to old age is probably preferred.
I’d rather die telling the story’s then be part of the story of how I died, but these explorers are programmed differently no doubt. I was reading about Hamish Harding, he’s done a pile of crazy stuff.
Horrible. Poor people. Hell if a NASA shuttle can explode midair bc of a little O ring issue, then a small sub can blow up from some unknown structural instability.
it is said, the hull(s) were too thin. They were 5" thick, should have been a min. of at least 7" another explorer/scientist said .. sad no matter what ..
Really a sad situation. I am shocked at all of the memes and jokes that have been everywhere the last few days. Is it because they are wealthy? There was a 19 year old kid on that thing. I think most of us would go on a wilderness adventure for grizzly etc., if we had the money. This really is not any different. 250k and you get to do what very few people on earth have ever done. Why do you think as a society that so many people dealt with this situation by joking about it the last few days? Are billionaires that despised? I have had the pleasure of meeting exactly 4 billionaires in my life. Every single one of them was just a guy like us that came up with an idea or product that made them a stupid amount of money. Each of them worked their azz off to make that idea a reality. We would all enjoy sitting down and having a beer with each of them. Am I missing something?
I expect there will lawsuits. A billionaire, a cent-millionaire, his son, the sub compsny CEO and another I can't recall... Ceo on tape making light of the 'fly by wire' nav and parts from camper world, no tether, questions about safety...
Don’t think it’s because they’re billionaires I think it’s because everyone looks to make fun of current stuff, whether it’s dark or not. Just like when Kyle Rittenhouse shot and killed that guy that was trying to attack him with a skateboard, there was a “Skate or Die meme” .
I think of teddy roosevelts quote of the man in the arena. “…his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.” It’s easy to do nothing to feel danger or be on the edge and critique but are you truly living? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haha that is fair. I love diving with sharks bc you aren’t in control. Maybe your thing is hunting in grizzly country, or whatever. That’s kinda what I was getting at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am not shocked at all by the way some respond to tragic events anymore Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is absolutely nothing new in peoples response other than technology. There is a reason for the term " Gallows humor ". Now that's just one time periods name for the human response to such tragic happenings. The longer a tragedy unfolds the more it occurs. Not to say some may be a lot nastier than others out of a bizarre $$$$$ envy , but again. that's another common human response. It is just with a global audience now, nothing new.
Appears the Navy heard this vessel implode. I sure hope they told the crews looking for the sub that information as soon as they had it. While loosing a loved one no matter what is terrible, but to know there was on suffering would have at least calmed me a little as compared to the unknown of hours/days
The navy apparently heard the implosion on Sunday with some 'sensitive' (classified/compartmental) technology and didn't announce it. Allegedly they provided some details to the CG...but this info came to the needs cycle when? Yesterday...day 5, via the media. Not to the families, until there was debris evidence to confirm. There are a lot of interesting angles to this little tidbit...but racing out to the families wasn't a part of it. How that info came to light and who leaked it, a story in itself which will be glossed over.
Memes are a part of anything that happens in society these days. Literally anything. Memes are shared about 50+ people being shot in Chicago over a weekend and everyone jokes and laughs it off as a political agenda as an example. People make memes about hunter biden and the pedo stuff every day. Just a crazy world.
I think it is a part of human nature to mock what we cannot understand and/or feel powerless to change. Most people are inherently decent and want to help but feel incapable of doing so. We mock to hide our own sense of inadequacy when we know something is wrong, want to help, and are unable to do so.
