Minus all the talk of race.......is the rap music genre "crud"?

I am "judging" the rap culture as I see it mainstream. And my judgement tells me the entire mainstream rap culture is terrible. After that Hooker, I couldn't tell you anything else.

Maybe I should have titled my post..."Mainstream Rap" instead of bunching it all together.

 

I listen to a bit of everything. Grew up just out side of philly, spent a lot of my life listening to rap and still love a lot of it. I also like country 9mostly older), some classic rock (mostly the better known stuff), and even a little metal. As a truck driver, I listen to a lot of radio, and honestly, other then his political views, I get more enjoyment out of Howard Stern then anything else on the radio at the moment.

If your tired of hearing all the trash these gangsters are saying, then I would say listen to Christian rap. There is no trash in the lyrics and it has a great message too. My favorite album is Gravity by Lacrae.

 

He brings up a point.

Besides it being every song is about drinking moonshine while driving around with a gun and trying to get laid by a river. But....we already had a thread covering this.

While I'd agree country these days sucks, it's not nearly as sucky or violent or racist as rap.

I was in high school in the early 90 so I have a soft spot for rap from that era but not much else.
