I witnessed some of the best rutting activity in a long time yesterday. Today is much slower but the bucks are on their feet during daylight. One member of the group got a nice 9pt in an open field at 9 this morning.

Still really slow here. Bucks are by themselves and does are still by themselves or with other does.

Heading back up north in about 10 min. The wife is coming with this time so I'll probably see deer.

Went out the last few days and its been real quiet. 1 buck and a couple does is all. The forest is real quiet around the southern metro.

    New hunter here,

Is it a horrible idea to ask other bowhunting.com members about where to hunt? where to place stands? Does it break some unwritten hunting rule?

Where to hunt as in stand placement nope, asking what part or a certain area of public etc., not many want to share that info. With that being said, lot of helpful guys on here.

The area I am planning to hunt next year has a lot of Aspen trees and a couple of pine tree stands. I know deer really like oaks for the acorns but does anyone have any input on hunting in a stand of aspen trees? I am hoping they are bedding down in the aspen or the pine trees and moving from there to some ag areas to feed.

    Thanks for any input

How is the deer heard doing in your areas? I am 15 miles east of St. Cloud in central MN and There are no AG fields left in my area.

The cold, snow, and lack of food has forced deer into our yard looking for fallen crab apples. Not looking too good.

Good as far as I can tell. Easy to get into fields around here yet so don't they are struggling.

I missed opening morning but made it out on sunday for a morning sit in hopes of seeing something but all the deer have left the property I hunt, but after the morning sit I walked the land to search for signs of life and while scouting for another place to set another ground blind and set another camera up and bumped a doe. so I'm looking for another piece of land to hunt but its all hunting

Looks like it's going to warm up again, leaves are dropping like crazy. Another week or 2 and it is going to get good
