Nope, last night I was cooking chicken for soup, headed up to Wisconsin deer camp as a caterer and technical director of hunting operations till Sunday morning. Plan on hunting Sunday afternoon.
I'm on doe patrol now. Can't keep holding out for a buck any longer. Been 3 years since I have had venison in the freezer. It ends this weekend.
I am there too oh sure I am still in it for antlers but there are no more free passes for does I want meat.
I've been that way since the week between Halloween and slug opener and of course all I've had in range since then is small bucks and yearling does.
That wound be nice. I try and educate people on age of deer when they shoot 1.5 and 2.5 year olds. When someone shoots an older one you can see the light bulbs go on in their head like hey it could be possible for more of these to be shot if.... I don't take it too far though cause I'll be the "jerk" if I start making people think they should pass on deer.
Well interesting last night I got pictures of bucks on camera, one was even of the size that deserves an arrow. First decent size buck that has been around since early fall. I was going to pack up the tent and store the cammo, back to game on.
Haven't been out for quite a while. Saw two different groups of deer today after work with a dozen or more in each. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Anyone know of any leases available next year between St. Cloud- Alexandria- Wadena- Little Falls? Looking for a spot for my wife, son and I to bow hunt and possibly gun hunt
I took down the tent today, pretty much taking a knee on the season with an unfilled buck tag. I reset the tent up in the garage to dry it out and decided to leave it set up and ozone treat it if the temps are in the 20's I might just hunt Christmas to new years. I have been feeding since I shot the doe so I will have to decide on the 15th to pull the feed pans or not.
I called it quits too. Deer have started to herd up (and especially will with -15 nights and 8" of snow) and they leave our property well before that happens. Wife and dad got a deer this year so we're not hurting for meat. To be honest, I didn't see enough does on our property all year long for me to justify shooting one this year anyhow. Time to start planning for next year while throwing back some cold ones in the ice house.
