I have never been pessimistic about a deer season, I blame global warming. Never mind checked the chip this morning seems there is reason for optimism.

How is the rutting activity in southern Illinois? I know the weather is warm just wondering how they are reacting to that. We will be hunting from the 10th through the 17th. Any information is greatly appreciated!!!!! Good luck hunting

Sometimes the secret of knowledge is asking the right questions of the right people. We are Minnesota hunters talking about Minnesota hunts.

    The rut is on.

Last night was incredible... I will be out tonight and this weekend (with the rifle).

If I wouldn't have seen that buck last night I would be out with the bow. I need to shoot that deer.

For the first time in over 30 years, tomorrow morning my gun will stay in the safe and I will venture out with my bow in hand. I love gun hunting but Bowhunting.com and you guys have lit a fire in me to shoot a deer with a bow, something I have tried to do off and on (much more off)for 30+years. Previously, I have never been as serious about the art of bowhunting. I am enjoying myself immensely but seeing a legal shooter (4 points on one side, minimum) would be nice. Another new experience for me will be to hunt my own property. I live on 8 acres of woods which is part of a 30 acre woodlot in the middle of an agricultural area of SE MN. As strange as this might sound, we have very few deer in our woods. I have 20+ fruit trees in an orchard, no problems. We have a large garden every year without a fence around it, no problem. We have never lost a flower, host, tree, or vegetable, to deer. This year I have a few pictures of a couple of small but legal bucks that seem to be passing through. I have placed a couple of stands and will be in one of them in the morning. Thanks for your advice, wit, and experiences. Good hunting!

I don't live far from sand dunes state land and the F & W land, other years it sounds like a war zone with shots going off pretty constantly. Have heard about 2 shots this morning, needless to say very slow action for the hunters.

I was out this morning also and didn't hear a shot til 8:15 and for about a half hour after that there was shooting but around 9 all the shooting stopped. Very odd. I hunted til noon and ran to get lunch and back at it I haven't heard a shot since 9 this morning usually I hear something off in the distance. Very odd

Our neighbors had 5 different people take shots tonight. My worst fear is that my number 1 was part of the havoc.
