One doe and two fawns on my drive out this morning. One doe while on stand and a small buck on my drive home. Different stand tonight.
Was up at the Daughters in Rice yesterday, their deer season on the farm is going to be a bust. 100 acres of corn adjacent to their property the farmers bins are full going to leave the corn in the field for the winter.
It is odd but the field is wet as well. Looking better than expected cooler anyhow, SE wind will work for me that is the direction the deer come from most days.
Heading to the stand now... Just got done with work. Little windy, but cooler than expected with a light mist.
Yep I was in Ripley. I only saw 1 spike and 3 does but I knew 9 other people up there hunting as well and 4 of them were successful and everyone saw a good amount of deer. A fellow hunter sent me this saturday afternoon, he isnt sure what killed it but my guess is wolves. What do you guys think?
Sounds like you guys did pretty good then compared to a lot of people. I saw that picture on Facebook, what a buck! Also, what a shame.
I did sit in the drizzle and wind, saw 3 does, 2 sets of twins and 1 single fawn. Had a big bodied little wracked 8 walk by and had 20 some damn turkeys in the plot. Going to hunt again Wednesday.
First year out of the last 6 that I haven't hunted all day Halloween. Weather was wrong all day and cameras didn't prove to me anything was moving yet so I sat this one out. Going to sit all day Thursday. Any mature doe or nice buck will be on the hit list. I'd just as soon be done before the pumpkins are out this weekend.
Yeah last night was not an ideal night I would have passed on hunting if it were not my first of the year. Could have been the crappy SE wind and deer approaching from a direction that was less than ideal but the deer were jumpy last night, any branch that fell they jumped. Taking today off to keep pressure down the weather is not looking good, not bad but far from ideal we can't even get a cool morning. I did find some new weak attempts at scrapes.
And people think hunters are cruel. Look how nature kills. Eaten alive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Checked the chip this morning after moving the camera by the stand, nice to see when I snuck out the deer were back in the are 5 minutes later. Had does on the plot at sunrise but no bucks other than the 1 I saw.
Had this guy come to about 60 yards yesterday. Worked some scrapes and was headed right to me... They never read the script like they should. Started heading away, I grunted, he looked back and kept going. I snort wheezed and he turned and started my way again. Got downwind of me and never came closer. He's a new buck that just showed up last week showing up every day now. He's limping real bad. Got this pic on the 30th. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
