Minimum Draw weight for hunting

    My girlfriend wants to get into hunting and is getting a bow. I was wondering what your thoughts were on draw weight for hunting deer. I dont want a bunch of wounded deer running around. She is pretty strong and I'm convinced she can pull back enough weight to have lethal force and speed.

    I think the law in Wisconsin say's 35# minimum. My wife is pulling 42# and she has no upperbody strength.

    Texas has no min draw weight, but I'd suggest no less than 35#

    my 8yr old son is pulling 38lbs... most states have a 40 minimum, but check yours to be sure...

    Her arrow weight is more important IMO. Make sure to get a really sharp BH.
