    With a heavy arrow you can shoot right through an Elk. At 55#. Shoot into the lungs. If you hit the shoulder bone your out of luck.

    I think people take elk with 40lb Traditional bows.

    In the early 70's My elk mentor shot a 45lb recurve. His longest shots were 20 yards.
