When should a mineral site or lick be made or set out? I'm here in Ontario and there's still lots of snow and I don't know when I should set the site out and my hunting area is just a travel zone and where should I set up the site?

I just set my sites up and the snow just melted... The ground is still frozen for the most part. I would say to wait until the snow is mostly gone.

Once the snow clears you should be good to go.

I'd probably take a different approach since you're trying to establish new sites. I'd try going out in the snow and scout out the heaviest travel corridors taking into account your stand locations and then determine where the best places are for optimal deer usage. I don't know if it's legal there to hunt over minerals or not but either way will effect your stand locations....or could.

I try to place mine on main trails to and from food sources because they like to hit them both directions but especially on the way back from feeding. Snow being on and presumably old and well walked in, should be a great indicator of the best travel lanes on the property. There's no need in placing mineral out of the way where it'll take them that much longer to find it.
