i get blocks from a place that makes them where i live. Its called Temptations lures. Or you can use other products such as deer cane, antler king, vita rach, ect.... i put new blocks out a couple weeks ago and have pics of deer with horns already here in WI!

I make my own....for about $60 you can make roughly 200# of mineral. I put some mineral out last year...a brand name from one of the little 4# or 5# bags and they barely touched it.

You can find recipes online and go to a local feed store to buy the stuff you need to make your own. This is the first year I have used homemade mineral and the deer have been hammering the stuff, here anyways.

Go to your local Tractor Supply or any place that sells minerals in bulk and make your own. It's a lot cheaper and works fantastic. You just have to make sure you put it where the deer are. Find some trails that criss cross each other and set it 5-10 yards off to the side of the trail. I've been making my own for many years now and have great results.
    50# DiCalcium Phosphate
    50# Mineral Salt
    50# Stock Salt
Mix together evenly and mix into about a 6' x 6' area. It also would help if you dilute it with some water after it's on the ground but usually mother nature takes care of that for you. Hope this helps.

I have had luck with making my own and with some store bought. But it seems as thought once mid October rolls around, the deer are just not as interested.

It is good to put it where it is shaded or were the soil tends to hold moisture.

Do you realize it's against the law to have any type of bait out (including licks) this time of year in Wisconsin?

Not telling you what to do but I don't know if I would advertise that on a public fourm.

Like the idea of making your own. I swear by Whitetail Institutes Kraze. It is a great product. I may have to look into making my own though

You could use and buy trace mineral blocks from any feed store for about $7.They last a long time and do the job for getting the deer there minerals.I have also used Deer cane Black Magic on rotten stumps with great results too. But if you what to use something that will work right away is Trophy Rock.It come right out of the ground just the way it is so it does not look odd to the deer. The one thing with minerals is the deer primarily use them from march to sept so you need to start your site right away.If you put out minerals during the deer season they will just sit there barely used until march. If you want to get your mineral site established quickly make sure you put on soft ground close to water and rub apples and dump some corn on it and that will help them find it for the first time .The water will keep the deer hydrated from the salt and the soft ground will catch all the washed away minerals from the rain so the will eat it.Here is some pics of my mineral sites. You can go to our web site and see a bunch more pics of bucks on Trophy Rocks -www.nloutdoors.com
