I am looking for advice on the best/most effective deer attractans that I can use underneath my bow stands. I do not have the ability to plant and grow food plots to hunt over. I have scouted out some good trails leading from some bedding areas to corn fields and have placed my lock on stands between them. Just looking for products that are going to help my chances on this new property.
I bought a #50 salt block from the local feed store for $5 dollars the other day! It will last forever!
Mineral blocks are ok for early season when its still hot but the deer won't use them as much when it cools off. Anything that advertises itself to be "flavored" (rather than just a plain mineral lick) will probably produce more deer visits. This includes flavored bricks and granules and pour-on types. I've used the flavored bricks to help slow down deer in front of cameras but they don't last long if they're right on the ground. Other animals get at them as well as deer. I've not used the granules or pour-on attractants but I've heard a good way to use those is to find an old stump or log and hollow out some holes in it as best as you can. Pour some stuff down inside and all over the outside. This way they have to paw at the stump/log to get the attractant and it'll last longer. All that said - I notice the "Crush" granule attractants usually fly off the shelves pretty quick.
Thanks for all the input. I will try some of these suggestions and give my own feedback. Thanks again. -Zach
I've used a variety of things with mixed luck depending on farm location. Trophy rock, deer cane, lucky buck, monster raxx and Big and J. This year I only have Big and J, Monster Raxx, and Trophy Rock.
I am obviously biased and feel Monster Raxx is the best product on the market In case you decide to try our products we have a coupon code going, just enter RAXX and you will save 15%.
X2 I have experimented and found nothing works as good nor is as good for your deer heard over all as Monster RAXX.
