I am relatively new to bowhunting and bought a used hoyt Vulcan bow with a draw-length of 28.5 my measured draw is a 29. in order to change the draw to my specifications I would have to swap out the cams so my question is can I swap out the cams with any other bow cams ex. Mathews, pse, etc. or do I have to use the hoyt Vulcan ones?

any help is appreciated... thank you!

Is your bow maxed out on poundage?
Do you have a d loop?

Depending on of your poundage is completely maxed out, You'll be fine. Let me explain myself.

I shoot a z7xtreme with a 28.5'' cam and my DL is 29.5" I have a 28.5 cam on mine because I calculated in that the poundage is not maxed out on my limbs, which should add maybe a 1/4" and a d loop at 1/2". So, in my mind, I'm right around where I should be.

This is just what I do and it's what is comfortable for me.

If you're new to compound bows I wouldn't go switching cams all willy nilly. I'm not familiar with Hoyt vulcan, but I would think you need model specific cams. Probably cam and 1/2?

    Hope it helps.

Thank you. This actually helps a lot. I never thought about those two things.
I have a d-loop and my bow isn't maxed out.
