I wanted to get an idea of how the Acorn crop is doing in the Midwest. Last year in my area, they were not good. This year seems to be about the same. Are you seeing more reds? whites?

I have mostly whites in my area and last week I didn't see any on the ground yet. I plan on checking the branches this weekend.

How's the yield where you are?

Our Red oaks peaked the last 2 years...phenomenal mast crops, but this year we have next to none on the property - the few trees that have acorns are just starting to drop them.

The acorns are very heavy on the whites in my area of SE Nebraska, the burr's are also having a good year I didn't notice on the reds. They are no where near mature as of last weekend but a few were falling.

Missouri looks good, since the rain stopped last month I give it until later September before they start to really drop

I don't have many Oaks on any of my hunting land, but the Burrs around my house are dropping big time

I'm not sure what type of oaks there are, but I saw a bunch a green acorns on the ground at my grandma's last weekend.

    Greene County in southern Indiana.

Both reds and whites were dropping at a steady pace here in Northern IL as of 2 weeks ago. I expect that to pick up pretty steadily throughout this month. I'll be out this weekend checking trail cams and will try to get a few photos to help with identification for people.

Lots of acorns. I think most are white oaks and burr oaks. Was not getting good pictures around them though. The one place we hunt has 75 + mature oaks and I don't think I have enough cameras to narrow it down.;)

whatever oaks they are, in mid-Michigan there was a bunch of greenie acorn nubs on the ground last month and the trees were loading up. I'll be in the woods next weekend setting my stands and will be able to see if the deer are hitting that or the crops more this year; but this is starting to look like the first decent acorn crop in that area in 3 seasons.

Most of the oaks are loaded here in Wisconsin.
