I've done the searches, reviews, etc. I am about ready to pull the trigger on some 100% merino wool.

Here's my thing......I still use an old X-Scent top, bottom, and socks during warm to slightly cool temps for my baselayers. I want to use the merino wool for when temps reach 40 degrees and below. I'm thinking mid-weight merino wool against my skin. It seems like a waste to me to use the lightweight baselayers. Opinions?

Thanks Lady! I am also looking at Minus 33 from Amazon.com......more expensive (100% merino wool) but great reviews.

Edit: went ahead ordered the top/bottom set from ****'s. Heck if I don't like it I am not out much.

I just switched this past season to all merino wool after years of under armor. Merino makes UA seem like overpriced junk IMO.

I went with Minus 33 in Expedition weight. Its HEAVY, but man is it nice and cozy. I also have a light weight set of Cabelas brand merino I bought years ago that didn't wear much. I use it as my base, than the Minus 33 on top of that. It worked excellent in temps down to 9 degrees.

My buddy has the First Lite Expedition weight and we compared the two. The Minus 33 is a touch heavier in weight. I'm sold on it and will be getting more for next season.

I have a big thick 100% wool sweater I wear over my old merino base layer and the 2 layered together really keep me warm.,
