Looks like I need to start hunting mid-day. I've had this buck on cam before, but always at night. I'm pretty sure this is the first daylight pics I've ever gotten of him. Glad to see he has made it through rifle season, still needs to make it past muzzle loader season. I have my opinions, but lets hear yours. How old and what do you think he will score?
145". Not good with aging. I got the jawbone from my gun buck this year that scored 148" gross and according to the WDMA tooth aging videos, he's was only 2 1/2. He's a real nice buck, and big bodied too. I'd shoot him. Good luck.
I would guess him 3 1/2 in the mid 140's here we let him go till next year passed on many like him and hated to do so but won't get big if you shoot him young. A trophy is the eye of the shooter
Here are three we have before we set some standards to grow them bigger and the all aged about 3 1/2. Biggest one scored 154.5 the one on left with the crab claws
Here are few this year one is three from cattle division they don't play by our rule. And trail camera and pic of rack is 4 1/2. So he may b 4 1/2
That's was my guess and I've been wrong many times. The gene pools are different and country is also we have big deer here so I may not be able to age your deer very well my bad
Doing a kitchen remodel job, had to go get some trim and saw a good buck out with three does in a field feeding... time .... 1:18pm
All day sits are a thing of beauty, hopefully he's there for you next time! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Mid day can be painfully slow, but in my experience when you do see a deer there is a better chance of it being a mature deer, than during the more traditional times. My guess is 3 1/2 and 130"
Yup around NE Indiana the deer are out 11-3pm... I'd say he is probably 4.5 or older and close to 150's gross, tall 2's & 3's Great buck I am going to put my "educated guesstimate" on here for score Spread : 16 Beams 42 mass : 35 G1s : 7 G2's : 22 G3s : 20 G4's : 5 TOTAL : 147 gross
So I decided to hunt my hunch yesterday on a mid day hunt. Only problem was I was later getting out the door than I would have like. I had planned on being setup in the stand and setup by 10:30, but I was still walking in at about 10:50. Just as I was about to cross the creek, I looked up there was two bucks standing on the ridge, headed down the trail towards my stand. They were acting a little strange, but I was sure they didn't see me. Then I looked a little further down the trail, and all be darned if there wasn't a larger buck standing behind some brush and he must have caught my movement and eventually he took off the way he came in from. I'm not sure what buck it was, but he looked pretty good as he was running off. 30 minutes earlier and I would have been in the money....
