I'm kinda screwed up this year and lost all my vacation time from the firehouse due to an ankle injury this summer...but i have time each day off from 8-2 to basically hunt...do you guys think its a bad idea to head out at 8 and leave by 2? I know the deer will still be moving with the rut...just wondering how much i might be gambling by not going in early in the dark Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
during the rut, all patterns and behaviors are tossed out the window and the bucks will be moving all the time! You can't harvest a deer if you don't hunt. Get out there and drop one! BTW, if you go in carefully and take your time, you should be ok. If there are deer running around your stand, just hunker down for a while until they move on.
That's what I was thinking...on my days off I take the kids to school at 8 and then usually go fishing all day in the summer till I pick them up at 3....figured I could spend a lot more stand time this way...haven't tried it yet...but have heard of a lot of bucks going down at noon...so I'm going for it!! Get out there. I killed my buck at 1:05, just 15 minutes after having moved trees from my morning sit. I've gone out mid day and killed deer does during the rut that were being chased by bucks & I was tagged out on bucks.
