Just wondering if any of you guys believe in blind calling between the hours of 10am-2pm when on an all day sit. Not much activity as of yet this morning but a decent spot, with good buck sign on public land. Ive done it before; and had it be effective, but many times with no result has me second guessing its effectiveness! What are your opinions on blind calling mid-day??

Blind calling is a tough one. Some people only grunt call when they see a buck and are trying to bring him in closer. I personally will rattle once an hour or so during those hours throughout an all day sit. I havn't had much luck though. I think it's a good question and I look forward to others' input.

Definitely!!! Make sure you glass your surroundings first, make sure there isn't deer near you. You are essentially giving away your position by calling, ensure you aren't seen making the grunt or rattling! Keep movement in your stand minimal and ensure that you have decent cover. Remember not to call too often, or make sounds that aren't natural. Timing is everything! Right now doe bleats will also start getting attention, but this call doesn't carry very far. The grunt or snort-wheeze is a sure way to get bucks fired up and get some reach out of your call.

I don't blind call at all. I'll grunt to a buck if he's going the wrong way, but I prefer to allow deer to come in with a relaxed demeanor, not on alert looking for something. jmo

Mid day blind rattling in the rut has been more successful for me than in the mornings or evenings. I shot one last Sunday around 12:30 by blind rattling.

Just remember when you’re questioning its effectiveness that a buck needs to be within hearing distance for it to have a chance work. Not every buck will come into calling either. Depends on their attitude at the time.
