From an icon standpoint, especially the era that I grew up in, it's a bummer. Being an 80's boy, his music brings back lots of memories. There is no question of his talent, it's his brains I question...... They guy was coo-coo for cocoa puffs, and as a human being I never really cared for him. But......God loves him the same as he does all of us, Michael was one of His children, but it sure is difficult to remember that at times.
talent wise, this guy was one of the best... a great performer and artist... but he didn't get the name wacko jacko for nothin...
I unfortunately only got to see the bad side of Micheal Jackson growing up in the 90's, now my birthday will be remembered as the day we got SHAQ and MJ dying.
It goes without saying that he was a pop start and did a lot of great things but... Like said above he did turn into a wack job. BTW, I heard in honor of his death JC Penney will have all childrens pants half off. And... Due to the fact that Michael is 99% plastic, he will be melted down into Lego blocks so little kids can play with him for a change. Sorry but the jokes are flyin around on text messages already...
Although an icon in his time just another drug addict that ended up killing himself with an overdose with the help of his doctor.
He was definitely an extremely talented performer. But he was also a freak and, I wholey believe, a child molester. So I really can't say I'm sorry he's gone. The one thing I AM sorry for is that his death has eclipsed the truly sad loss of Farrah Fawcett. She was beautiful and she will be missed.
I agree with what many have already said. He use to be a talented performer but turned into a freak in his later years. I can't say I will miss him, but you have to feel sorry for his kids. I was on itunes last night and noticed that his albums hold 9 of the top 10 spots on their best seller lists. The guy's estate has probably made enough money since his death to take care of all that financial problem he was having while alive.
Thriller was my first album. I was 8 yrs old when I got it 1983. Man that is still the best album ever, over 109 million copies sold! He was my generation's Elvis. Im not in tears, but it is like a part of my childhood died...I have not thought about Jackson or my childhood until they started playing the songs from that album the day he passed, brings back a great time in my life. I do feel a bit sad, this guy was screwed up...bad upbringing? who knows? But I can say that he was the most talented dancer and singer I have ever listened to. He had that recongnizable voice much like Elvis and his efforts to put on a show were unmatched. As far as child meloster...I don't know. I would hope not, but ya never know people, either way, I hope he knew Christ.
Thriller was my first album too. When I was 10 he was the coolest person in the world and influenced music of all genres. He will live on in the USHER's and Justin Timberlake's of today and tomorrow. I was crushed in the mid 90's when the molestation charges came out. I don't know if I believe it or want to. I remember the 25th anniversary of Motown show. That's the Michael I loved not the one he became. After all the surgeries he really started to look like one of those "goons" from the Thriller video.
