my brother in law came down to or home in north east mo, and gave me permission to fish and hunt his ground on the Menominee river 1/4 mile of river frontage and 50 acres question is is it worth a 8 hour drive to hunt such a small tract of ground and are the bucks really as big as Buick's there? I have a lot of ground here in mo with big deer, i think he just wants to see me hunt there, he has stopped hunting many years ago. he says there a tons of deer there, it's just hard to justify the drive and time when i have big deer at my house but i dont want to insult him either.
I think you should have a MI guy hunt it for you and give a full report I will make the sacrifice for you No need to thank me, I am just trying to help.
Germ I know how bad the economy is so you know I will help out with this and slpit the gas with ya to get there!!!!!Walt PS.I will even bring the camera so we can document for him!!!
so is this a good area? i told him i would come up and go fishing in early October with him, maybe i will take a bow along for laughs.
It's just like any other property. If everybody in that area has the "if it's brown it's down" mentality then don't count on many big bucks around, but you might stumble onto a gold mine too. They have a ton of deer up there and I would think there would be a nice buck around. If that property has not been getting hunted the last few years and it's all wooded I would be all over it regardless of surrounding pressure. Even if it's partially wooded it would be worth checking out. You can always go after some Salmon and Steelhead. Dose that mean they can hunt your place?
Wi has been spotty this year. I suspect this area is low on farms. If so there will be less deer. But it's a beautiful area and well worth the trip.
