When I used to work for a state park that had plenty of public land for hunting we would travel the walking trails and remove anything that visibly showed a route like ribbons or in other ways was considered as leaving trash. People often would use pop bottles, ribbons, clothing, beer cans, etc. and all that would get removed year round if we saw it. The tacks are/were much more effective and didn't create such an eyesore and most often we would leave them, unless of course they used 20 of them to mark the heck out of each tree or at least a tree just off the trail at the start of a route in.

What hunter is still marking trails & trees with ribbon? It's 2013. Even cats-eyes are outdated, their good for marking the tree the stand is on considering GPS's get you real close but in the pitch black a cats-eye jumps out at you.

It had to be removed by the next day,11:59 pm they said. They reminded me u can't claim a tree, DNR also reminded me that it has to come out daily and that they also took other climbers and hang ons out the woods that day too! Gave me the date of the big sale they are having for all confiscated gear, boy, what a class act! Also reminded me that it's my responsibility as a hunter to remove "anything" that shouldn't be there, and is against the law. I see other hunter stuff out there almost every time I go out. I have never and will never remove another hunters equipment.

Wow, sounds like a nice guy! Sure seems like there are a few DNR officers that have the power go to their head.

I agree, do all that you can to keep the leeches away from your set!
