Yesterday I decided I would practice out of my climber some. I shot fine from 20-40. I then decided to shoot some steep angle shots. Ranged the target at 7 yards drew back and bam; noise like a gun shot. I looked down at my bow and bottom cam is destroyed. When I shot the cam rotated back into the top bar of the climber. The little foam pad didn't help at all. So the bow shop will order one monday and who knows when it will be in and my season starts in 20 days.
Don't feel bad man, these things happen. I went to pull back a new bow one time and I didn't use a release, the string came off the cam and hurt me and the bow lol. At least you weren't injured and you'll be back in business before the season starts.
That suckssss!! I've always been careful of that when I shoot outta my viper. It can happen pretty easily though! At least it didn't happen during the season, and you didn't get hurt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's a real shame man. I hit the top bar once while shooting a longbow at 160" 10pt in SD in 2006. I have refused to use a stand with a top bar since.
That's one reason I prefer my Ol Man climber. You either put the top on so that the bar is a rifle rest or flip it over so I can be used as a foot rest and not be in the way of your bow for those type of shots. Glad you didn't get hurt. Hopefully they will have you ready before the opener. Lesson learned. Good luck this season.
Yea lesson learned, I left my bow with the shop but ive been messing around with the treestand trying to figure out what to do in case the same scenario presents itself again.
I also have an Ol' Man climber and love it. This is just another one of the reasons. Never have to worry about the top bar with it and it's a super comfortable climber. I can only imagine how pissed you are. But stay positive you should have your bow back in order soon.
On the positive side, it was before your season and you weren't hurt. They'll get it fixed for you. My stand this year is a tight fit (Trees all behind me with a one-man rifle stand) - so this is something I have to watch.
Sorry to hear but like every one else has said it will all work out for you. 20 days is plenty to get every thing fixed. I hope all goes well and you Kill the big one.
