    I am looking for a mentor in Illinois. I have attempted to teach myself the last few years on public land but have had zero luck. I would like to find someone in a reasonable distance from the Rockford, Illinois area.

    If your new mentor pulls up in a van with no windows, with "free candy" spray painted on the side, I would not recommend going in the woods alone with him.
