Mega Millions officials initially set the estimate at $476 million, but with stronger than anticipated sales nationwide, it became clear that the jackpot for Friday’s drawing would be much larger. It was increased to $500 million, then $540 million and now to $640 million.

$462 Million or $24.6 Million for the next 26 years?

    26 years there's no rush.

I had to wait 10 minutes just now to get my damn Caramelo at the gas station because everybody was buying these goddamn tickets.

    I hate this world.

I do get a good laugh at how many people flock to buy tickets. What, it wasn't enough money to spend $1 trying to win when it was 80 million? No one wants that chump change.

People actually go in gas stations still?

As for the lotto, its a 1 in 176,000,000 chance of winning.

If you could get 176 million financed to buy every possible outcome, you'd still net well over 400 million before taxes. 2 flaws to my system though.
    1) the off chance some Joe Shmoe strikes gold and wins too splitting your pot, you could be in the hole after taxes.
    2) If you have the financial pull to have 176 million upfront, you have no business playing the lottery.

I walked into a Nice and Easy(regional quickee store) yesterday. The lady in front of me threw down a $50 and said, "Put it all on Mega Millions". She then pulled out more money to pay for her 18 pack of Bud. WTF. That's a lot of money to dump on something you have no chance in hell of winning.

As some of you may or may not know I have some issues with convenience stores in general. This whole mega millions thing is really about to put me over the edge. These people really have to wait for it to get to 600 million? Now they come flocking out of the woodworks and scrambling to buy tickets? Why is such a bigger issue now? When it was 100 million, that wasn't good enough to go buy a ticket? I don't get it.

And yes they need a separate line in general. Any lottery or scratch off tickets should be separate with a separate cashier.

A friend of mine in Florida in 2001 used all of his pocket change to play the Pick 4 lottery game. It was his first time trying and the number was similar to his last for digits of his Social Security Number.

He won an estimated $960 Thousand Dollars.

On May 29 2010 I had seen the Virginia Lottery previous night numbers and they were nearly the same as last 4 digits of my cell phone number. So I played that number. On the way home after playing that number. I had an over whelming feeling to play it some more, and more, and more...and some more.

So to say I was in shock when those very numbers played.

Neil Boortz would say playing the lottery is an exercise in ignorance. On that day I was one of the dumbest person playing the lottery. For each ticket was $5000 a piece. It's the effing taxes that comes along with wining that I didn't like.
