I met him before he was the president in Moscow, so no I wouldn't again. Also met GW and Sec of state Rice while doin a security detail for both of them twice. Had a lot of opportunities to meet several high ranking official in the gov, the best part was I got to be armed though ha. Only reason I'd go was if it was like Germ said and you got to go to white house, that's one thing I didn't do being at Quantico and close to D.C.
Absolutely.... to meet the POTUS for an accomplishment means you did something that was a pretty damn big deal... It would be about meeting the POTUS, not the person holding the position at the time.I work for/with/around people I don't agree with on a daily basis. If I avoided all of them, I'd be a hermit living solo in a cabin in Alaska with no human interaction....
It's funny how FOS many on here are to say they would turn down a trip to the White House. It literally is not possible for someone to disagree more with the policies of Obama more than I do...and I STILL would jump at the opportunity.
My aunt lives in DC. I literally would say no. Ive been to the White House enough. The president is just another guy thay I have nothing in common with. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy s4
About 90% of the answers to this question of this thread make me ashamed to say I am a hunter and fisherman....just pathetic.
I wasn't really calling you out in particular, but since you responded let's roll with it. For starters, going on a tour of the White House is no where near the same as being a GUEST OF the White House. It's like comparing watching the Outdoor Channel to actually Bowhunting. And since it obviously seems to be about the policies of the current POTUS that shape mosts opinion, lets say your supervisor at the Fire Station is a huge liberal... You are up for an award for a courageous act you performed at a local fire... you turning it down because he votes differently than you?
Alot of firefighters turn down awards. Is it not in my job description to go above and beyond for strangers? I guess I could say the same if we had a right wing Commander in Chief as well. Getting recognized by the President just isnt my cup of tea... Sent from my Samsung Galaxy s4
I spent a week in Washington DC in the Summer of 1986 on a special invite for gifted students. I got to meet then President Reagan, George Bush Sr. and a whole list of others. I was 17 at the time and it was cool. In the infancy of developing my Conservative roots, I smile every time I think about that experience. With that being said, I have no desire to sit and converse with someone that doesn't share my belief. Yeah, I can talk to anyone. Be it a supporter of PETA, an anti-gun person or a skinhead. But, why bother? They have no desire to accept my beliefs or my way of thinking. I am sure he would say what sounded good or tell some good stories. I am sure that satan or the devil (not saying he is the devil) has some cool stories too, but I have no use for him either.
Absolutely. I agree with little if any of what he believes in, but as others have mentioned, it's about the office and being around some of the highest governmental powers in this great nation. Once in a lifetime experience for many of us, so I doubt I would turn it down.
I'd have to decline the invitation. The man brings no honor to the office. I don't feel there would be any honor in being recognized while he holds the office either. Don't assume I don't respect the position. I probably have more respect for it than he does.
Its not just his policies. It is who he is and what he stands for. Again, if I were able to speak about policy and why most of middle america disagree with everything he stands for, then yes, I would meet but to give him another photo op at my expense, no thank you. Since he could care less about what middle america thinks, as evidence by how he has rammed things down our throats, its obvious he would not listen or care about anything I had to say. So no point in meeting him. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
If it's just some photo op, then yeah, I doubt I would care about that either. I thought this was about actually meeting him, sitting down to a candid conversation.
Met Johnson at the White House while in the Scouts and Nixon in my hometown (long before Watergate). As an adult, passed on meeting Carter. 99% of the time when people meet the President, it's for their benefit, not ours.
