Ya I know I said no more after Angel. ... Hubby was insisting I was resisting then this guy was fostered by daughter. They say blk mouth cure and Australian cattle dog...hhhmmmm I say short haired brindle Dutch shepherd...either way young, chipped,,neutered, socialized, car rides great, no food aggression, smart and athletic. So Meet A.J.
Congrats I said no dogs were going to be replaced until I went to the local bait store and they had a chessapeak chocolate cross.
Congrats! I really like black mouth curs. See my avatar. Very loyal and good homestead protecter. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
Pissed at my son he sent his dog off for special training and he went out and got a male pup yesterday.
He came up from Mississippi and I think that's why the vet estimated the blk. Mouth cure. But there are Dutch shepard breeders down in that general area. I can't link pics of the short haired Dutch shepards from this device but I really think he looks more like them. I've never seen sn Australian cattle dog with this coloration.
Curs can be brindle. How old is the dog? From my experience with my cur, they can be a bit hard headed. Mine wanted to be the boss. I had to insist that that was not the case. After he was about 18 months old he got the picture and turned into the best dog I ever had. It was trying at times. Good luck
They estimated 2 but daughter is thinking a year to 18 mos. . The shelter picked her for fostering due to his leash habits. He wanted to mouth and tug leash. She broke that within a day and now she and SIL both run with him several miles a day. She's training for a marathon. She's also training off lead commands and on an agility course. Yes I know they have a brindle color phase and very similar to his though I should have said the ear set is closer to the Dutch shepherd. He definitely has the body shape that would match closer to the cur and shepherd. He is well behaved.
Looks a bit like a neighbor's Catahoula hound. OND, congrats on the new member. Daughter had their fur friend put down about two weeks ago. House seemed empty so they got a foster dog.puppy. Seems the foster is turning into a permanent.
Thanks, I think he'll be great for hubby and I admit I'm a little lonely on my rounds around the property. We haven't gotten him yet but the shelter has been informed we want him. They were pleased when they called about the amount of land he'll have and the fact we are outdoors people. Besides they love daughter and SIL as foster parents. Right now he's developed some intestinal issues daughter has tried countering...She is keeping him and taking him in for a check. I would not be good handling another death. The over weight husky that she took and got to lose 30+#'s was adopted out. Within a week a lump was found, he died on the table during surgery. Everyone took that very badly.
BTW daughter elder chocolate lab in pic has one of those security wraps on because she has dementia, yes dogs too. Well he is always snuggling her to give her comfort. He picked up on it right away.
