Here is our new family member. Meet Daisy. 5 week old female Chocolate lab. We went to go see her at the Breeder today with the kids. It definitely seems REAL now. We take her home in two weeks. She will also be my new Bird dog (mostly Grouse). It will be great to finally hunt over a dog again as it has been a good 5 years since we lost our Springer. Damn thing sure is cute. The kids sure are excited. My wife even got to hold her when the kids finally let her. :D
Man that's awesome. She will make a great dog for you and your family I'm sure. Labs are just wonderful dogs. Here's our girl Kimber
Got to love getting a puppy. I remember bringing mine home when he fit in one of my hands, now he's 4 years old and 65-70 pounds...
IMO there Isn't a better family and hunting dog then a lab. Congratulation's on the new pup!! I'll be getting another lab soon myself.
Nice looking pup! Do you have a lot of grouse by you? I've got just a few by me. I heard them drumming this weekend for the first time this year.
We had a Chocolate named Rebel. He lived to 13... he found many bow-deer for me and almost all of my dove. He would look at me like I was the dumbest thing on the planet whenever I let a bird slip by without shooting at it. I took him on a public dove hunt once and he started bringing me everyone elses birds; you should have seen the pile. We sorted them all out at the end of the day. Rebel loved to hunt and I sure do miss him. Oh, yeah... he'd fetch up a fish for me if I released it and it floated to the surface. Never could teach that dumb dog to back the boat trailer down the ramp for me though. Congrats... I hope you have many great memories with Daisy too.
Yes, we have a good amount. My trailcam took this video last year where a deer almost stepped on one and it had to take off running. LOL I will flush birds on the way to the stand quite often. I also go grouse hunting in the Nicolet National Forest for a grouse camp once or twice a year with my wife's dad and his group. I am going up this coming weekend to start hinge cutting and frost seed (if you want to call it that yet). I hope to hear a few drumming.
Congrats, as others said, you can't get a much better dog than a Lab, both of mine or excellent loving dogs and GREAT with kids, enjoy, it should be fun watching the kids interact with her.
Cute pup! I got a yellow lab before Christmas. She enjoyed playing fetch Saturday when I was doing some work behind the house.
