Got a question about media cards! I have noticed a BIG differencein price on 32 gig media cards. What makes some so much more $$$ Im about 2 weeks from pulling the trigger on the new cam and all the acessories I need to go with it! Please fill me in before I buy a card for it! http://www.campbellcameras.com/shopping/Departments/Video-Accessories/Tapesmedia.aspx
They're the speed ratings for the cards (write speed primarily, although many classes are same read/write speed). For instance, a class 4 SD card has a rated write speed of 4MB/s whereas a class six has a write speed of 6MB/s.
Agreed most of the price difference is based on the class rating of media card which classifies data transfer speed. This site will explain the different types of cards, it is best to match the chart at the bottom of the page http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2520/~/sd/sdhc/sdxc-specifications-and-compatibility You can use this page to help you understand the speed requirements. http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1996 Hope that solves it for you.
Thank you much gents!! I had a feeling it had to do with transfer speeds. SO the better class card the faster I can transfer vids correct??? Man I cant wait to get the set up! I know its going to be work to carry in set up and get it done on film. BUT,, I aint scared of work! I love new challenges actually. First goal, kill a Turkey self filmed (archery) with only a brush blind! Im already planning how to do that this spring!
OK I ended up with 2 SDHC 32 gig ultra high speed class 10 cards. Lucked out. when I ordered them it was presidents day special and you got second card free or upgrade 1 to a 64.
I ended up getting the Canon XA10 and all the accessories. Pics to come after I get the camo skins applied!
