I made the switch from fixed blade muzzy broadheads to the grimm reaper mechanicals. I put a doe down out of a tree stand last week and was very pleased with its performance. Well tonight I was going to go hunt out of a blind which is what I do a few times during the season. I was not sure if the mechanicals would work with the shoot through mesh on the blind and it was too late to retune my bow for fixed blades so I looked at some threads to see if this has been done. Most of the threads I read said that they have shot the GR broadheads through the mesh with no problems so i went on my way to the blind. At about 6:30 tonight I have several doe come up on me at exactly 20 yards so i pick out the biggest one and let her fly. The mesh drastically changed the flight path of the of the arrow. I ended up hitting her high and near the rear end of the doe. I feel terrible that I wounded that doe and now it is possibly going to suffer and die all because I did not do enough research before the hunt. I am posting this so some of you guys do not make the same mistake I just made.

I cant imagine trying to shoot through the mesh. I would think it would change the flight pattern of any broadhead dramatically, not to mention the arrow speed. I would get rid of the mesh if it were me.

I've never tried shooting through meshes. We either take them down or even cut them out :)

I have a matrix gb and I shoot threw the windows all the time with my fixed blades and no problem at all. Mechanical's i wouldn't attempt just for the reason of they opening by chance going three the mesh.

no mesh = success........if a tiny sapling branch can change the flight path of an arrow resulting in a miss IMHO i would never sling an arrow knowing it's going to hit something before it hits the deer
