Pulled a few cards today and had a bunch of smaller bucks that have already shed but then came across pics of Meat Hook on the 2nd already mostly shed.

Also, my last MIA buck, Gnurley, has shown himself for the first time this summer. He did not re-grow his left drop tine...bummer but I'm stoked to see he has gained otherwise at three years old.

Great bucks Covey. How old is meat hook? Appears to be 6 or 7.

That's my estimate as well. You may recall I posted a thread a while back about him finally showing up after being MIA all summer. We had some discussion then about him being pretty old. I don't think he has enough loose skin hanging anywhere to age him older than that. Plus he looks fairly sleek yet rather than well worn like a 8 year old generally does...but then again we don't get to see very many 8+ year old deer either.

Hope Meathook goes down for you on a nice open field edge. A body that size would be a backbreaker trying to pull him out of some gnarly thicket or swamp. That guy is a tank.

You could publish those photos as a bible on what to look for on a mature deer!

Yeah...and I bet if I get him I'll have to hunt him back in the deep, dark swampy area where I know he probably lives most of the time thats back in old coal dumps. That's probably why I've never seen him in person or in daylight. I hardly ever go back in that area and have no cams back in there. This camera is out on the edge of a bean field just north of that area. The cover back in there is about as freaky as Meat Hooks rack.
