How accurate is the wingspan / 2.5 method? My previous DL was set at 26.5, DW was 65lb (2010) my wingspan now is 5' 11" that would put my draw @ 28.4 not really sure if it changed or is there other factors ? I had arrows cut for my old bow @ 28in by mistake from huntersfriend up and inch and shot better last year. I am obviously looking to keep the same arrow (28in) as I have a dozen of them ...(I know anything over 28in DL ill need new arrows) So if I keep my DW the same @ 65 with a 27-28.5 DL (TBD) will I be ok shooting .400 easton axis n-fused ? Now what if I bump it up to #70 DW? Should I be shooting .340? Just looking to be a little more informed this time ....not that I dont trust my shop they are great.
I don't like any of the so called draw length methods out there. Too many factors involved. Nothing beats holding a bow with correct form and the actual equipment you plan on using. sent from my samsung note 2
A .400 spine at 70# with a 28"arrow will most likely be weak with a 28"-28 1/2" draw length. If you can get them cut down to 26 1/2", they MIGHT work. sent from my samsung note 2
I'd go with the 340 spine. It is what I'm using at 71# and 28.5" DL. Have a pro shop measure your DL, then have your bow set accordingly. If the set DL is too short or too long, it will cause problems for you. At least it did for me.
