That's pretty amazing. Yes i knew the numbers. I was kind of just asking to make the point. I don't see anyone close to RM record ......
Career. Not flash in the pan excellence... Sustained over decades type excellence. If you are talking about someone at their peak, it'd be tough to argue against Mike Tyson. Dude was an absolute punisher in a few fights.
I don't know a lot about boxing. But here are the facts...Mayweather has been dodging this fight for years and he hates fighting left handers
I'm not totally convinced it was just him dodging it. Neither side wanted this bad enough back then. Mayweather isn't the one who denied the request for drug testing either. I think he is an absolute tool... But I can't help but respect how he approaches work. Bucked the fighters trend of giving all your earnings to promotors who set up the fights by promoting himself. Trains incredibly hard, is a clean fighter, and has NEVER lost. That's a pretty rare feat.
Mayweather for the win! I used to watch boxing with my dad and enjoy it still to this day. I do like MMA as well but have a absolute dislike for wrestling....
This fight had the potential to be the best of all time had it happened 5-10 years ago, both boxers have changed fighting styles in big ways. Mayweather surprises us with one last KO, Pacquaio gets sloppy, shows his crazy hands and Mayweather catches him. Lets not forget, if this fight does go to decision Mayweather will never lose a decision fight in Vegas.
Huge boxing fan here and boxing is far from dead, they've been saying that for years. If you actually followed boxing there are a lot of very good fighters out there. The problem with boxing is they don't show the high profile fights on network television, you normally have to be subscribed to HBO, Showtime or buy PPV fights. Another issue is there isn't one governing body controlling the fighters and belts (Like in the UFC), the promoters and the sanctioning bodies (WBO,WBC & IBF) control too much that goes on and unfortunately they're normally looking to line their own pockets so you don't always get the best match-ups. Boxing is coming back to network television next weekend on NBC sports, Keith Thurman vs. Robert Guerrero and Adrien Broner vs. John Molina are World Championship caliber fights (the caliber of fights that haven't been on Network television for 15 years). Anyone who thinks boxing is dying don't know ****, no disrespect (MMA is getting stale and losing it's luster IMO, boxing has always been alive and well). As far as the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight goes, it definitely should have happened a few years ago. I'm glad it's happening, it's good for boxing and once these 2 guys get out of the way there will be future superstars to follow. I have Floyd Mayweather winning this by a UD.
To those that think Floyd ducked this fight. To put it simple, Bob Arum(Pacquiaos promoter and Top Ranks CEO) played dirty with the media for years, Bob "I lied yesterday but today I'm telling the truth" Arum (Yes Arum was quoted saying that), continually lied to the media about this fight having a chance of being made when in fact there hasn't a been a legal contract or negotiations for this fight to be made since 2009. Any claim that Floyd ducked this fight is easily debunked considering the only time there was a legal contract for this fight was back in 2009, during those negotiations Pacquiao balked at the "RANDOM" blood and urine testing (Floyd agreed to the fight, Pacquiao did not!) and Pacquiao filed a "defamation of character" lawsuit on Floyd Jr., Floyd Sr. and Rodger Mayweather (Floyds uncle) which ultimately killed the fight. Just to spread a little bit of knowledge about what actually happened and why this fight wasn't made back in 2009.
Floyd must not have too many problems with lefties. He's beaten everyone of them he's faced. Just from this particular post, I'm guessing you're a Skip Bayless fan? Lol.
Wasn't there something about he, Manny, being accused of taking something and he ended up passing a test but the test wasn't good enough for Mayweather's camp and they wanted a different test ran that he refused to take? I honestly can't remember all the details.
Yes in reality Pacquiao had never failed a drug test (the same drug test that James Toney, Roy Jones Jr., Shane Mosley and countless others passed before getting caught using PEDS, which is very outdated compared to other methods of drug testing) done by the boxing commission which was urine testing only. Floyd made a stipulation in the contract back in 2009 that Pacquiao and himself undergo "random" blood and urine testing done by the USADA "United States Anti-doping Agency", which is the company that does testing for the US Olympians. At the time it was out of the ordinary to do testing outside of the commission, but it wasn't the first time either. Pacquiaos last 3 fights, since he got knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez have had the same type of drug testing but done by the NADA (National Anti-doping agency). But when Floyd insisted Pacquiao to undergo the "random" blood and urine testing for their fight in 2009, Pacquiao said he would only do the testing with a 24 day cutoff date and he wanted to be notified of the days he would be tested (which is scheduled testing, not random).
