Last year a couple of guys from work asked me if I'd be interested in a bow bear hunt and I said yes. Last night they said they are working on the details............where we might go, days needed for vacation, etc. Last time they went 11 hunters in camp took 6 bear. Looks like my first black bear hunt will take place this fall somewhere in Canada. Hope to do a little fishing also.

Oh yeah! I've been wanting to do this for some time. My goal is to do it within 3 years. I acutally have a connection in west virginia.

Have you guys looked out east? May save a bunch of money, but Canada probably is where the bigger ones are.

My Grandfather and I were talking one day about going on hunts. He said
"The best advice I can give is to do it, and do it while you're young. It's an experience you'll never forget and it's something you'll always want to do. If you pass up a chance when you could have, you never know when or if you'll get another one, with kids and work and all, life gets busy and before you know it, it's too late."

Very cool Coug, I'm wishing you the best! You can DIY it in Alaska. The money you save will also afford you several other tags, like sitka deer. It's just a thought.

It's a blast! I have yet to hunt for bear with a bow but harvested a large sow three years ago with my rifle. The meat is so-so, mine really had no flavor to speak of so we made a lot of sausage and Pepperoni. No matter if you harvest one or not, your going to have a good time!

You hunted with the wrong guys. ;)

Ontario does have quite a few poor bear outfitters. But, like anything, we can't all be lumped together. My bear hunts are something I take a lot of pride in and run a quality hunt with high success rates.

Except when Dubs was up. But that was all weather and timing related.

I used to work with a guy who had dogs for bear huntin, he used to go out and chase up bear all the time just to keep the dogs active, I should probably look into doin a bear hunt and look him up. At the time cpl years ago I wasn't into huntin but I still know where he works, worth a shot
