may 22 growth,

  1. Im trying to learn how to gauge deer quality early on. I realize all of the reasons why this is difficult, and its only may etc etc, but I have 2 older looking deer that seemed to be producing good early growth, what are you opinions on them, and even what are your opinions on judging deer so early?

The only distinction I think one can make this early is.... Small, nice, or GD. I would say those are going to be good bucks by any measure. I have the same bucks year after year (sans death) and to help you I'll post my 1. Last year I had him at high 140 and hoping for 160+ this year
Velvet can be very very misleading though Screenshot_20190524-203659.jpeg

I think if you see growth out beyond the ears in May, he's gonna be a goodun!

I've seen WAY to many bucks explode early only to stagnate sooner than expected and vice/ versa.

You will not know what will he will become untill July 25 the or so.
