I need to tie in a peep on my new maxxis 35, and I was wondering if you other guys that own one had to shoot it several times to train or stretch the string. I know the strings on the maxxis are high quality, but wasnt sure. I know my cheetah gave me fits until I had a hundred plus arrows through it. It would creep like crazy.
Are you shooting a loop? If you want to rotate your peep, tie it in where it should be, that will not change. Draw it back and make sure it lines up right, if not put the bow down on your bench, hold the bow steady with one hand and slide the factory sting silencer up or down on your string, that will rotate your string componants one way or the other. Or you can give G-5 10 bucks to give you a rodded bead that does the same thing! That trick works on all bows and strings. As you slide the it up or down let the string move freely, and keep the silencer parralel to the table as you slide your string should rotate.
I was told when I bought my Alphamax that the string was high quality and I should see very little stretch. So far this has been correct.
My peep hasn't rotated at all in 3 months of shooting. It's stayed perfectly square. So string stretch isn't an issue. If you need to rotate your peep, try sliding the stock string silencer up/down the string just a little. This will rotate your peep a bit. But, with that being below the nock point, it isn't as effective as above. G5 makes it's speedball, they look like tiny dumbells. As long as you don't need to rotate your peep more than about 45*, these things work extremely well. If you need to rotate your peep more than that, start by putting a twist in or taking one out of your string. When you get it close, the speedball will correct the rest. Edit: Oh, one more thing that works. Normally, when a peep is installed, the string is split directly in half. 11 brown strands, 11 green strands. Or whatever color you're using. Take strands off of the low side and move them around to the high side. This will also pull the peep around.
My string on my Maxxis 31 has not stretched. I think they are getting it right or at least allot better. SRM
Check the timming of the cams. My Maxxis 35 stayed in tune a very short time with the standard strings. They have since been replaced with Winners Choice. My mates 31 has done the same. If cam timming is out would you not say that the string is stretching?
